Michael McCallen in 1938 and then sometime during the war.
The cutting states BEM which is correct but on our 'Jubilee Cup' it is marked as MBE that Michael was awarded.
Thanks to his son Nick for letting us know in 2018.
The cutting says McCallan with an A but his surname was McCallen.
The Jubilee Cup in Honour of Michael William McCallan B.E.M. (Mil.)
The Golden Jubilee Cup was given to the Association anonymously in our Golden
Jubilee Year in memory of the late Michael McCallen B.E.M.(Mil.) to be presented each year for outstanding "service to the Association".
The first recipient was Vice-President Mr. G. M. Penlington In 1977-78
Recipients have been Mr. E. Kavanagh in 1978, Mr. L. Kelly in 1979, Miss P. Rothwell in 1980, Miss K. Divers in 1981, Mr. P. McClindon 1982 and then in 1983 Mr D. C. Newns.
This Plaque was erected at Lakeside House in 1961 but was recovered when new owners took over the House.
It then passed on to Michael McCallen's son Nicholas McCallen.
It is thanks to Nicholas I have this copy of the plaque.
